Discrete Manufacturing
Discrete manufacturing differs from process manufacturing in that discrete manufacturing produces distinct identifiable items (say a toy or a car), whereas the outputs of process manufacturing are undifferentiated (such as oil). Discrete manufacturing poses unique challenges in production line design due to the wide variation and complexity of technologies required. As an example, a contemporary discrete production line may include precision machinery, injection molding, welding, motion control, robotics, vision systems, PLCs, HMIs, data historians, SQL data bases, SPC packages, etc. The average Systems Integrator typically is not equipped to handle this range of disciplines.
EAE Tech however is uniquely qualified to provide you with discrete manufacturing solutions. Our design staff is well seasoned, many having spent a portion of their careers in the plant manufacturing environment. In addition we keep well trained and are experienced in the technologies required for a successful discrete manufacturing line. Our recent control applications have been as diverse as automatic wood working machines for door and window assembly, to a completely automated filter manufacturing cell for an air bag component. Overall we have application experience in the following areas:
- Stamping
- Assembly
- Welding
- Finishing
- Machining
- Part Transfer
- Packaging
- Cutting
- Finishing
- Robotic
- Production Data Collection and SPC
- Bar Code/RFID tracking
- Machine Control Retrofitting
EAE Tech will turn-key qualified projects, or perform Design & Build Services working with your Forces / select Sub-Contractors, or our proven Equipment Installation professionals.
